About Us

Matrix is a competitive all-star cheerleading squad based in Crewe, Cheshire. The squad was set up in June 2005 by Leanne Palin to compete at local and international competitions. Since then the squad has grown from strength to strength, competing all over England, and winning Bronze in the European Championships 2008 in Slovenia. 

Matrix Cheer squad aims to build teamwork, self-confidence and a sense of pride for all athletes. We hope within the Matrix cheer programme to build a positive atmosphere where athletes can learn to dance, stunt, cheer, tumble and improve fitness in a safe and supported environment. Matrix also promotes leadership within young people, helping them gain qualifications and responsibility within Matrix Cheer Squad

Leanne Palin – Owner and Head Coach
Leanne is a level 4 USASF coach in Stunts, Tumbles and Tosses. She has an ICF Level 1 qualified coach with the UKCA, with a level 1 in Street Cheer. She is also qualified up to Masters Level with the BCA after passing Level 1 - Cheer & Dance Coaching Principles and Ethics, Level 2 - Coaching Cheer Fundamentals, Level 3 - Stunts and Tumbling 1 and Level 4 -Stunts and Tumbling 2, with the NCSSE. She also holds an Associate in Freestyle with the IDTA.
Leanne has also taken a course with Sports Coach UK in Good Practice and Child Protection and has CRB Enhanced Disclosure. She is also a Registered Matron with Cheshire County Council in addition to two other registered matrons within the squad.
 
SJ Scarborough – Cheer and Dance Coach and Choreographer
SJ has become part of the Matrix coaching team after many years of cheer dance experience with current USASF WORLD Hip Hop Champions ADA Dark Angels. She is now the main Matrix Dance Coach as well as playing a main role in the Junior and Senior Cheer teams. SJ also holds USASF credentials up to Level 4 in Stunts, Tumbles and Tosses. She also has 3 distinctions in a Dance BTEC National Diploma and is currently studying at Chester University to become a Primary School teacher. SJ also has a CRB Enhanced Disclosure.
 
Jeni Bennett – Cheer and Trampoline Coach
Jeni is an active member of the Matrix squad, with years of trampolining experience, as well being part of the amazing Level 6 Unity Allstars, representing the UK at World Level. Jeni is helping the squad improve flying and tumbling technique. She has cheerleading qualifications that include BCA Maters, UKCA Level 3, Street Cheer Level 1 as well as trampolining Level 3. Jeni has recently gained a 2:1 in Sports science at Liverpool John Moores University.
 
Matrix also has many athletes that are showing great leadership qualities that help younger squad members and make a big contribution to the squad. 

Rebecca Swansbury is the Matrix Youth Pom Coach and is very active within schools, coaching teams to National Schools Level.

Ben Grice, who is part of our Senior co-ed team also assists with the Junior Cheer team and has CRB Enhanced Disclosure. He is working towards his qulaifications which will take him into schools and colleges over the next 12 months.
